BLOWING ROCK, NC

As far back as I can remember, my grandfather always told me that as long as he could spend three weeks a year in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, he would be forever happy!  I can see why. This is a charming little town.

These were pillars made of corn shucks
 Nice shops and friendly people
An apple tree just growing in the middle of the town.
They sold the apples on the sidewalk in baskets.

A beautiful park in the center of town.

DRIVE ON THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY

The Blue Ridge Parkway is especially beautiful this time of year as the leaves at the higher elevations have started changing.

The higher up you go, the more color you see.

At Mt. Mitchell, the air smells so clean and sweet - like cotton candy.
I realized the smell was coming from these trees.
A nice hiking trail at Mt.Mitchell.
A low-budget, no frills (but good) lunch!
I don't know what the name of this lake is.

 Fantastic views!

Lots of fall colors - and they will intensify next week.
